Dear Ascension Families,

It is with a grateful heart and great excitement that I welcome you as the principal of Ascension Catholic School. While this role is new for me, this school is not. For many years, I have had the privilege of teaching in these classrooms, walking these hallways, praying with our students, and partnering with our families. It has truly been a blessing to call Ascension my home for the past 12 years, and I am deeply honored to continue serving our school community in this new capacity.

Throughout my time here as a teacher, I have witnessed countless moments that remind me what makes Ascension so special. I have watched students grow in confidence and faith, celebrated academic achievements, shared in moments of laughter, and experienced the unwavering support of our families, faculty, staff, and parish. These experiences have shaped me not only as an educator but also as a person, and they have strengthened my love for this incredible school community.

At Ascension School, our Catholic faith is at the center of everything we do. Each day, we have the opportunity to help our students encounter Christ through prayer, worship, service, and the example we set for one another. Our mission is not only to provide an excellent education but also to form compassionate, faith-filled disciples who will use their God-given gifts to make a difference in the world.

I look forward to building on the strong traditions that have made Ascension such a special place while embracing new opportunities for growth. I believe that the partnership between home, school, and parish is one of our greatest strengths.

By working together with trust, open communication, and a shared commitment to our mission, we can ensure that every child feels valued, challenged, supported, and loved.

As I step into this role, I do so with humility, gratitude, and confidence in God's plan. I know there is much to learn, and I am grateful to be surrounded by an extraordinary faculty, dedicated families, supportive parish leadership, and students who inspire us every day. I ask for your prayers as I begin this journey, just as I promise my prayers for each of your families throughout the year.

Thank you for the trust you place in Ascension School and for allowing me the privilege of serving this remarkable community. I cannot wait to see all that God has in store for us this year.

In Christ,
Mr. Matthew Himes
Principal
